Three Lakers Named First-Team ABCA All-Region

Dentler, Gulbrandsen, Morrison earn All-Region plaudits

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2025 All-Midwest Region team and three Lakers (Jayden Dentler (SP), Jonas Gulbrandsen (DH), Evan Morrison (SS)) were first-team honorees. Dentler is a consensus All-American, while Gulbrandsen and Morrison were consensus all-region performers.  

Denter finished the 2025 campaign with a 12-0 mark and a 2.73 earned run average in 14 starts on the hill. His 12 wins ranked second in the country and tied the GVSU program record for wins in a single-season. Dentler logged 89.0 innings pitched with three complete games and 69 strikeouts. He tallied 12 starts with 6.0 IP or more, 11 outings yielding three runs or less, including 10 with two earned runs or less and six appearances with six strikeouts or more. Dentler concluded his collegiate career with a 36-9 career mark. 
 
Gulbrandsen hit .342 and led the GLIAC in home runs (15) and RBI (62), while ranking second in hits with 78. Gulbrandsen also contributed 13 doubles and three triples on the year. His 15 home runs ranked third for GVSU in a single-season, while his 62 RBI is fourth. He notched 25 multi-hit games, 18 multi-RBI games and tallied a season-best 17-game hitting streak. Gulbrandsen concluded his career ranking third in home runs with 28, eighth in RBI with 144 and 11th in hits with 212. 

Morrison started all 57 games at shortstop, hitting .341 with 76 hits, 17 doubles, three home runs, three triples and 43 RBI. Morrison led the GLIAC in runs scored and set the GVSU single-season record with 73. He tallied 22 multi-hit games, 14 multi-RBI games, recorded a 19-game hitting streak and reached base in 56-of-57 games played. In addition, he walked 36 times and was 17-for-24 in stolen bases.
 
Grand Valley State, under the direction of second-year head coach Jordan Keur, finished the 2025 campaign with a 43-14 record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA DII. tournament.
