Lakers Home for Final Weekend of the Regular Season

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team is back on the diamond for the final weekend of the regular season. The Lakers will host Saginaw Valley State on Friday, April 25th at 3:00 PM and will close the regular season hosting Wayne State on Senior Day on Saturday, April 26th at 2:30 PM.
 
GVSU currently sits in second place in the GLIAC standings with a 14-10 conference mark and 23-23 overall record. The Lakers swept Purdue Northwest on the road last week before splitting doubleheaders at home to Roosevelt and Parkside. GVSU is hitting .285 as a team with 207 runs scored. The Laker pitching staff has tossed a 3.06 ERA which ranks second in the GLIAC.
 
Elizabeth Wesoloski is hitting .333 on the season with a team leading 49 hits, 36 runs batted in, and seven home runs. Wesoloski launched three home runs in the doubleheader at Purdue Northwest last week. Grace Usher is batting .301 on the season with a team leading 10 doubles. Faith Edwards leads the team with a .427 on-base percentage and is hitting .300 with 34 runs scored.
 
In the circle, Nevaeh Ingram is 12-8 on the season with a 2.85 ERA and 89 strikeouts. Ingram tossed a one-hit complete game shutout last game against Parkside. Karli Dorr has tossed a 2.92 ERA with 13 complete games and a team leading 113 strikeouts. 
 
Saginaw Valley State is 38-10 on the season and 21-3 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals have claimed the GLIAC regular season championship heading into the final week of the regular season. SVSU beat the Lakers in both games of a doubleheader earlier this season. The Cardinals are hitting .315 on the season which ranks best in the GLIAC. SVSU also leads the GLIAC with 42 home runs and 2.46 team ERA. 
 
Wayne State enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 23-26 overall record and 12-12 GLIAC mark. GVSU split with Wayne State in a doubleheader on the road earlier this season. GVSU won game one 3-1 before dropping game two 5-4 in extra innings. The Warriors have won four straight games and are hitting .281 as a team with 208 runs scored. The Wayne State pitching staff has tossed a 4.34 ERA which ranks seventh in the GLIAC.
