Lakers Host Roosevelt Thursday; Parkside Saturday

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team returns home this week for a pair of GLIAC doubleheaders on Thursday and Saturday. The Lakers will host Roosevelt on Thursday, April 17th at 3:00 PM and Parkside on Saturday, April 19th at 1:00 PM.
 
GVSU has won five straight games and are coming off a doubleheader sweep at Purdue Northwest on Tuesday. Elizabeth Wesoloski was named the GLIAC player of the week last week and followed it hitting three home runs against Purdue Northwest. Wesoloski has launched six home runs over the last six games with 14 runs batted in. The junior is hitting .348 on the season with team leading 48 hits, 35 RBIs, and seven home runs.
 
Senior Morgan Spicer is hitting .304 on the season and has recorded at least two hits in five out of the last six games. Spicer leads the team with 10 doubles and is second with five triples and 27 runs scored. Freshman Grace Usher is hitting .306 with a team leading 10 doubles. Usher notched four hits with two doubles in the doubleheader sweep at Purdue Northwest on Tuesday.
 
The Laker pitching staff has tossed a 3.04 team ERA which ranks second in the GLIAC. Freshman Karli Dorr has posted a 2.63 ERA with a team leading 100 strikeouts. Dor rhas struck out at least five batters in 12 games this season. Junior Nevaeh Ingram is 10-8 on the season with a 3.01 ERA and 78 strikeouts. Ingram has picked up the win in her last three consecutive outings. 
 
Roosevelt is 13-25 on the season and 7-13 in the GLIAC. GVSU swept Roosevelt in a doubleheader on the road earlier this season to open conference play. Roosevelt is hitting .251 on the season and are getting outscored by their opponents 198-136. Ella Dvoracek leads Roosevelt hitting .366 on the season with 45 hits and 31 runs scored. Kailey Hancock has tossed a 3.65 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 103.2 innings pitched. 
 
Parkside is 19-19 on the season and 10-10 in the GLIAC. The Rangers swept the Lakers in the opening weekend of the GLIAC schedule. Parkside is hitting .266 as a team led by junior Mia Johnson who leads the GLIAC with 17 home runs. Johnson is hitting .379 with 13 doubles and 41 runs scored. In the circle, Olivia Masnica has tossed a 3.18 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 90.1 innings pitched.
