Five Lakers Earn All-GLIAC Honors

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team had five players earn All-GLIAC honors announced by the league office today.
 
Kaden Brown was named to the All-GLIAC first team and was named the sixth man of the year. Jalen Charity and William Dunn earned second team honors. Shamus Thompson, Trevor Smith Jr., and Jalen Charity were named to the all-defensive team.
 
Kaden Brown becomes just the second player ever and first in GVSU program
history to be named the GLIAC sixth man of the year. He is the second player under head coach Cornell Mann to be named to the All-GLIAC first team. Brown led GVSU in scoring with 13.9 points on 39% shooting from the field and 39% shooting from three. He knocked down 82 three-pointers this season which ranks fifth in GVSU single-season history. Brown tied a GVSU single-game record with eight three-pointers at Indianapolis scoring a career high 32 points. He has made at least four three-pointers in 11 games this season including scoring at least 20 points in eight games.
 
Jalen Charity has earned All-GLIAC second team honors and all-defensive honors for the first time in his career. Charity appeared and started n all 29 games this season and put up career best numbers averaging 11.5 points on 49% shooting from the field and 43% from three-point range. He scored in double figures in 18 games this season and scored a career high 20 points at Parkside. Defensively, Charity was one of the best defenders in the conference having to guard the opponents' top scorers every game. He swiped 24 steals and blocked 16 shots this season, while pulling down four rebounds.
 
William Dunn has been named to the All-GLIAC second team for the second consecutive season. Dunn appeared and started in all 29 games this season scoring 11.1 points and led the Lakers with six rebounds. He shot 43% from the field and was third on the team with 29 made three-pointers. Dunn posted three double doubles this season including a career high 28 points and 12 rebounds in the final game of the regular season against Roosevelt. 
 
Trevor Smith Jr. becomes the fifth Laker in program history to be named to the All-GLIAC defensive team for the third time in his career. Smith Jr. has earned all-defensive honors for the third consecutive season. He led GVSU with and was fifth in the GLIAC with 36 steals this season which was a career high for him in a single season. Smith Jr. was third on the team and 13th in the GLIAC with 18 blocks.
 
Shamus Thompson has been named to the All-GLIAC defensive team for the first time in his career. Thompson led GVSU and was fifth in the GLIAC with 28 blocks this season. He finished second on the team and 16th in the GLIAC with a career best 5.3 rebounds.
