ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team resumes GLIAC play this weekend on the road against Davenport and Ferris State. The weekend schedule has been changed due to forecasted rain on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's doubleheader against Davenport has been moved up to an 11:00 AM start time, while Sunday's doubleheader at Ferris State has been postponed and will be played on Tuesday, April 1
st in Big Rapids. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
GVSU is 13-15 on the season and 4-2 in the GLIAC. The Lakers opened their home schedule this week with a doubleheader sweep over Purdue Northwest. GVSU dominated game one 12-0 in five innings before taking game two 8-2.
Madelynn Pope launched her first collegiate home run and notched four hits between the two games. Pope leads the team with a .370 batting average, 30 hits, and seven triples.
Davenport is 13-13 this season with a 4-2 GLIAC mark. The Panthers swept Ferris State earlier this week winning game one 6-4 off a three-run walk off home run before winning game two 7-5. Ferris State is 12-8 on the season and 1-3 in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs will face Purdue Northwest today before hosting GVSU on Tuesday.
