TIFFIN, Ohio – The Grand Valley State softball team returns to the diamond on Monday (March 16) when they travel to face Tiffin in a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 PM with game two to follow.
GVSU is 9-11 on the season and are coming off their spring break trip in Florida where they went 7-5. The Lakers are hitting .263 as a team and their pitching staff has posted a 2.66 team ERA.
Elizabeth Wesoloski leads the Lakers with a .302 batting average with 19 hits and 17 runs batted in.
Morgan Spicer is hitting .296 and leads GVSU with 12 runs scored, six doubles, and three triples.
Madelynn Pope has notched a .291 batting average with 16 hits and three triples.
In the circle,
Nevaeh Ingram leads GVSU with a 2.01 ERA and a 4-3 record. Ingram has tossed six complete games in seven starts and has struck out 36 batters this season.
Karli Dorr has made seven starts in the circle and leads GVSU with 42 strikeouts. Dorr has posted a 2.04 ERA in 44.2 innings pitched.
GVSU fell to Tiffin 8-3 in Florida just over a week ago. The Dragons are 14-8 on the season and are on a three-game winning streak heading into Monday's doubleheader. Tiffin swept Saginaw Valley State last Friday 2-0 in game one and 6-1 in game two. The Dragons are hitting .293 as a team led by Jessica Miller who is hitting .370 to start the season with 27 hits, 19 runs scored, 14 RBIs, and nine doubles. Baylee Mirgon is hitting .356 on the season with 21 hits and 13 runs scored. Molly Koesters has notched 23 hits with four home runs for a .348 batting average.
In the circle, Tiffin is led by Isabella O'Brien who has posted a 1.88 ERA with a 4-0 record in 12 appearances with six starts. O'Brien has struck out 41 batters in 41 innings pitched. Ella Esterby is 6-3 on the season with a 2.27 ERA and a team leading 55 strikeouts.
