Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Grand Valley State softball team dropped their final two games at the Lewis Dome Tournament today (Feb. 22) and fall to 2-6 on the season. The Lakers lost game one 4-3 to Winona State and 4-1 to the host team Lewis.
Game One vs Winona State – L, 4-3
Winona State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off a Laker error. Winona State would add to the lead with a two-run third inning to make it 3-0. GVSU got on the board in the bottom of the third inning off a sacrifice fly to right field by

Winona State would hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to push the Laker deficit back to three. GVSU would score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Kylie Swierkos got the start in the circle and suffered the loss (0-1) after tossing three innings allowing three runs off three hits.
Christine Duch tossed four innings in relief allowing one run with two strikeouts.
Game Two vs Lewis – L, 4-1
Lewis got off an early lead in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI single to left field. The Flyers doubled their lead to 2-0 in the third inning off another RBI single to left field. Lewis would add two more runs off a Laker error to make it 4-0 in the fifth inning. GVSU got on the board in the sixth inning off a

Nevaeh Ingram got the start in the circle and suffered the loss (1-2) after tossing all six innings striking out four batters.

GVSU will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Florida for the Spring Games. The Lakers will play 12 games in the sunshine state beginning next Saturday, March 1
st in Clermont, Florida.
