THE GAME
• #23 Grand Valley State will host Michigan Tech for the 2025 homecoming contest. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. The Lakers are 5-3 overall and 3-2 in league action, while the Huskies are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in GLIAC action.Â

THE SERIES
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series by a 33-4 margin. The Lakers claimed 20-0 victory over the Huskies a year ago in Houghton. GVSU has won nine consecutive games in the series and are 28-2 versus MTU since 1985. The Lakers have scored 40 or more points 13 times in the last 20 games and 20 times overall versus the Huskies. Grand Valley State is under the direction of third-year head football coach
Scott Wooster. Wooster has led the Lakers to a 27-7 mark, including two NCAA Division II playoff appearances and a GLIAC title his first two years.
• Grand Valley State claimed a 59-13 victory at Wayne State last Saturday. Trailing 6-3, the Lakers scored 56 consecutive points. Six different players rushed for a touchdown,
Jason Hardy returned an interception 90 yards for a TD and LB
Anthony Scott recovered a fumbled snap on a punt in the endzone. LB
Torian Wyatt tallied a team-high eight tackles and forced a fumble, while LB
Anthony Cardamone tallied seven tackles, 1.5 QB sacks and 1.5 TFL. PK
Mathew Bacik converted all nine PATs and hit a 29-yard field goal. QB
Andrew Schuster completed 17-of-26 passes for 256 yards.
Kellen Reed caught five passes for 70 yards and
Lynn Wyche-El hauled in four passes for 81 yards.Â

Brady Drogosh ranks second in rushing with 212 yards and four rushing TDs.
• The GVSU defense ranks fourth in the country in redzone defense. Opponents have scored on 14-of-25 (56.0) opportunities, including just nine TDs. Â
•  The Laker offense ranks second in the GLIAC, converting 25-of-29 opportunities (86.2) inside the redzone, 22 of which have been TDs.

Trace Hrgich is second in the country, averaging 46.4 yards per punt. He has punted 24 times, with seven of 50 yards or more and 11 inside the 20 yard line.
•  Versus Davenport and Northern Michigan, the GVSU defense has yielded 154 yards of total offense and zero points on 12 drives in the second half.Â
• The Laker defense ranks 12th in the country in tackles for loss with 52 for -203 yards.

Anthony Cardamone has 242 tackles, 34.0 tackles for loss and 18.5 QB sacks mark for his career.

Kellen Reed has  2,262 all-purpose yards in his career. He has 1,315 kickoff return yards, 780 receiving yards and 167 rushing yards.

Anthony Cardamone was tabbed as the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. He tallied seven tackles, including 1.5 QB sacks (-10) and 1.5 tackles for loss (-10) in the Lakers' 59-13 victory at Wayne State. He was a key piece of a defense that limited Wayne State to 141 yards of total offense while he was in the game. Cardamone leads GVSU in total tackles with 52, including a team-best 4.5 QB sacks (-20) and 6.5 tackles for loss (-22), five QB hurries and a fumble recovery. Cardamone now has 242 career tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss and 19 QB sacks in his career.Â

Mathew Bacik was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Bacik hit a 29-yard field goal, was 8-for-8 in point after attempts and averaged 53.7 yards on nine kickoffs with one touchback at Wayne State. Bacik is 37-for-38 in PATs and has converted five field goals on the season, including a career-long 54-yarder.Â

Riley Simpson set a GVSU record with his 96-yard fumble return for a touchdown at Pitt State, breaking the mark of 95 held by Scott Mackey vs. Findlay in 2002.Â
• Other than the opening drive of the game and a 1-play, 75-yard touchdown on the first play late in the second quarter, the Laker defense limited Davenport to 152 yards of total offense on nine drives.

Andrew Schuster was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Schuster completed 22-of-32 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns in the Lakers' 48-36 victory over Black Hills State. The 391 passing yards is a GVSU freshman record and tied for ninth on the list of all-time, single-game passing yards list. Schuster completed passes to 10 different receivers, tallied seven completions of 30 yards or more and he engineered seven scoring drives that did not eclipse 2:39. In addition, five touchdown drives were 65 yards or more.Â
• The Laker defense tallied 11.0 tackles for loss (-53) and 4.0 QB sacks (-25) vs. Black Hills State.Â
• The Laker offense has produced 13 plays of 20 or more through the first two games, including six that have gone for touchdowns.Â

• RS freshman QB Andrw Schuster completed a freshman, single-game record 80.9 percent (17-of-21) of his passes vs. Lincoln. In addition, he completed passes to seven different players and completed three passes of 30 yards or more.Â

Jimmy Downs tallied eight tackles, 2.0 TFL (-8), 1.0 QB sack (-8) and two QB hurries vs. Lincoln.Â
• The Laker defense tallied 9.0 tackles for loss (-25) and picked off three passes vs. Lincoln, followed by an 11.0 (-53) TFL and 4.0 QB sack outing vs. Black Hills State.
