Lakers Earn One Seed In NCAA Tournament Midwest Region

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team have punched their ticket into the NCAA Tournament and have earned the one seed in the Midwest Region. GVSU will host the eight seed Cedarville in the first round on Thursday, November 20th in Allendale.
 
GVSU has now made 22 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances posting a 66-12-9 overall record. The Lakers have won an NCAA Division II record seven national championships along with 13 final four appearances and 17 regional championships. GVSU has won back-to-back Midwest regional championships in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
 
The Lakers claimed the GLIAC tournament championship on Sunday for the 16th time in program history. GVSU is 19-2 on the season and won the GLIAC regular season championship for the 18th time in program history with a 13-1 conference mark. The Lakers enter the NCAA tournament having won 10 straight games which is their largest winning streak of the season. GVSU has recorded a GLIAC best 13 shutouts on the season allowing just nine goals all year.  
 
GVSU will also welcome the four seed Maryville and the five seed Northwood to Allendale. The two teams will face each other in the first round, and the two winners of Thursday's matchups will face each other in the second round on Saturday, November 22nd in Allendale.
