Laker Men's Cross Country Squad Finishes Fourth at the Knight Invite

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Grand Valley Men's Cross Country traveled to Grand Rapids this morning for the Calvin Knight Invite hosted by Calvin University. The Lakers took fourth place with a final score of 82 points. 
 
Gabriel Connelly led the way for the Lakers, finishing sixth with a personal-best time of 25:57.1. Justin Hoffman followed with his own personal-best time, crossing the finish line 12th at 27:43.1.
 
"It was great to see Gabe and Justin put on a strong performance from start to finish after battling through adversity over the last couple of years," said Head Coach Jerry Baltes.
 
Nine men from the men's Laker squad competed in Grand Valley uniform. Adair Artis made his collegiate cross country debut, finishing 51st at 27:43.1.
 
"This was a good building opportunity for our squads," said Baltes. "We were able to get in there and mix it up and gain some valuable experience."
 
GVSU Cross Country hits the road for their third meet of the season on Friday, Oct. 4 for the 2024 Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
