Women's Lacrosse Announces Hiring of Two Graduate Assistant Coaches

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's lacrosse team announced the hiring of two graduate assistant coaches for the 2024-25 season. Joining the staff are former Laker All-American Aislynn Alkire and former Kent State standout Jackie Wolford.
 
Alkire completed her Laker career this past spring, ending as one of the best defenders in program history. She ranks second in program history with 73 caused turnovers and her 114 groundballs is tied for sixth. A 2024 IWLCA Second-Team All-American, Alkire was a member of the winningest class in Laker history, tallying 64 wins over her four seasons.
 
She helped lead the Lakers to four GLIAC Regular Season and Conference Titles, as well as the 2023 Midwest Regional Crown. Alkire was a three-time All-GLIAC and IWLCA All-Region selection and earned GLIAC Defender of the year in 2024.
 
A  Columbus, Ohio native, Wolford comes to Grand Valley State after a stellar lacrosse career at Kent State University.
 
Wolford was a four-time all-conference selection as an attacker, while earning conference Freshman of the Year in 2021 and MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. She helped lead her team to the programs first regular season MAC title in 2023. She holds the Mid-American Conference and program records in points (241) and goals (197) as well as single season records in points (82) and goals (69) in 2023. Wolford was a 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.
 
Previously an assistant coach for Lucky Lax lacrosse club in Columbus, Ohio, Wolford now coaches a club team for Pure Summit in the Grand Rapids area.
