Four Lakers Earn IWLCA All-American Honors

ALLENDALE, MICH. – Four members of the GVSU women's lacrosse team earned IWLCA All-American honors, as announced by the organization this afternoon. Sydney Stone and Aislynn Alkire were selected to the second-team, while Maddy Champagne and Kaylyn Cater were members of the third-team.
 
Stone was second on the team with 54 goals, recording 13 hat tricks this season. The GLIAC Midfielder of the Year added a team-leading 61 draw controls, as well as 44 groundballs, and caused a team-high 32 turnovers. This is the first career IWLCA All-American selection for Stone.
 
A big part of the nation's best defense, Alkire forced 29 turnovers and picked up 40 groundballs on the Laker backline. Alkire added 11 draw controls and was named the GLIAC Defender of the Year, as well as earning her first IWLCA All-American selection.

Already earning GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Cater adds the first IWLCA All-American honor to her season accolades. She ranks third in the nation with a .512 save percentage and leads the country allowing just 4.70 goals per game. Cater picked up 83 saves and 16 groundballs, notching 15 wins for the Lakers. She had eight games with five or more saves and picked up her 100th career save earlier this season.
 
For the second consecutive season, Champagne was named IWLCA All-American, earning second team honors a season ago. Champagne led the Lakers with 72 points on 57 goals and 15 assists, notching 12 hat tricks this year. She has added 59 draw controls, 48 groundballs, and caused 21 turnovers.
