Men's Golf is Tied for Third Following the Opening Round

ORLANDO, FLA. – The GVSU men's golf team put together a strong opening day at the NCAA Championships. The Lakers ended the day in a tie for third, just two strokes back of the lead.

Oklahoma Christian and Colorado Christian are both tied for first at -7, after they both shot rounds of 277. GVSU is tied with West Florida for third at five under. Cal State Monterey Bay is in fifth at four under.
 
Manuel Cue Vargas is in second after shooting a 65 (-6). He made six birdies on the day. Drew Coble is tied for seventh at three under. Coble shot a 68 with five made birdies. Bryce Wheeler carded a 72 (+1) with four birdies to finish in a tie for 43rd. In a tie for 68th is Nick Krueger. Krueger shot a 74 (+3), sinking three birdies. Charlie Cooley shot a 75 (+4) to end in a tie for 81st.
 
GVSU will continue to play with West Florida and Indiana (Pa.) tomorrow. The three teams will tee off at 11:10.
