INDIANPOLIS, IND. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team was down in Indiana for the UIndy Fall Invitational, teeing off Monday morning. The Lakers completed one full round, and most of a second, but rain forced play to be delayed, and the second round could not be completed. Despite the weather, GVSU put together a dominant first day and hold a commanding lead heading into tomorrow's final day of action.
Results
GVSU ended day one at -28, opening a 15-stroke lead on second-place Hillsdale, who finished at -13. Ferris State is third at five under par, with Gannon carding a two under to end in fourth. In a tie for fifth at one under were McKendree and Missouri S&T.
Bryce Wheeler is atop the individual leaderboard after the opening day, shooting -11. He made 12 birdies and an eagle. Right behind him is
Andrew Gwilliams at ten under par. Gwilliams made 10 birdies to end in second. In a tie for fifth is
Charlie Cooley, who made seven birdies to end at five under. At two under par is
Manuel Cue Vargas, as he made six birdies and a par, ending in a tie for 12
th.
Maverick Conaway made six birdies to end at even par, in a tie for 20
th.
Ryan Gallagher is tied for 59
th at six over par, as he made six birdies today.
The Lakers will complete round two tomorrow morning, then go directly into the third and final round.
