NOBLESVILLE, IND. – The GVSU men's golf team finished off their regular season by picking up their sixth win, and the third of the spring. The Lakers led wire to wire at the Ken Partridge Invitational to win by six strokes. Two Lakers,
Drew Coble and
Bryce Wheeler, finished inside the top five.
Results
The Lakers shot a final round of 289 (+1) to hold off Missouri S&T, finishing at one under. Missouri S&T had the low round of the day at 285 (-3) to jump into second, ending at five over. Host UIndy ended in third at nine over after their final round of 293 (+5). Wayne State was fourth at +16, carding a final round of 286 (-2). In fifth was UMSL, as they shot a round of 296 (+8), finishing at +24.
Drew Coble and
Bryce Wheeler finished in a tie for third at three under. They both shot final rounds of 72 (E), as Coble made three birdies and Wheeler sank five.
Nick Krueger was tied for 15
th at six over, as he made three birdies in his final round of 74 (+2). Ending in a tie for 28
th was
Charlie Cooley, as he had a final round of 81 (+9), making one birdie, to end at nine over.
Manuel Cue Vargas shot a 71 (-1) with four birdies to finish in a tie for 44
th at +11.
The Lakers begin postseason play this weekend, taking on the GLIAC Championships starting on Friday down in Augusta, Michigan.
