Men's Golf Leads after Opening Round

NOBLESVILLE, IND. – The GVSU men's golf team teed off in their final regular season tournamtn of the year at the Ken Partridge Invitational. After the opening round, the Lakers lead the field of 18 teams by six strokes.
 
Results
 
The Lakers shot a round of 295 (+7) to lead by six strokes. In a tie for second are UMSL and host Indianapolis at +13, as they both had rounds of 301. Missouri S&T is fourth at +15, carding a round of 303. Rounding out the top five is Findlay, who shot a round of 305 (+17).
 
Bryce Wheeler leads the way for GVSU, as he shot a round of 70 (-2), sitting in a tie for first after making four birdies. Drew Coble and Charlie Cooley are both tied for fifth at one over, shooting rounds of 73. Coble made three birdies today, while Cooley made one. Nick Krueger and Manuel Cue Vargas are both tied for 43rd at seven over, carding rounds of 79.
 
The Lakers play the second round tomorrow, then will finish off the tournament on Tuesday.
