KENOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State softball team is back on the road for a GLIAC doubleheader against Parkside on Tuesday (Apr. 16) in Kenosha, Wisconsin. First pitch for game one is set for 2:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM CT with game two to follow approximately 20 minutes after the completion of game one.
GVSU is 23-12 on the season and 6-6 in the GLIAC. The Lakers split a home doubleheader against Ferris State last Sunday, winning game one 2-1 before falling 1-0 in game two. GVSU is hitting .292 as a team and are outscoring their opponents 167-70 this season.
Hannah Hollister leads the Lakers with a .369 batting average and leads the GLIAC with 26 stolen bases. Hollister has recorded 41 hits, 35 runs scored, and 12 RBI's.
Kelsey Komorous is hitting .352 on the season and leads the team with 35 RBI's and 11 doubles.
Jenna Ballard has notched a .355 batting average in 25 starts on. The season with 27 hits and 12 RBI's.
Morgan Spicer is currently on a nine-game hit streak including five multi-hit games during that span. Spicer is averaging .349 at the plate this season and is second on the team with 21 runs scored and 19 RBI's.
The Laker pitching staff leads the GLIAC with a 1.75 team ERA. Four Laker pitchers are ranked in the top five in ERA in the GLIAC.
Kylie Swierkos leads the GLIAC with a 1.33 ERA. Swierkos has made eight starts and 10 appearances on the season and has tossed six completes games with 27 strikeouts.
Genesis Eggart is second in the GLIAC with a 1.53 ERA making 12 appearances with 10 starts. Eggart leads the team with eight wins in the circle, 10 complete games tossed, and 63 strikeouts.
Nevaeh Ingram is third in the GLIAC with a 1.67 ERA and 5-0 record. Ingram has made seven appearances in the circle with 24 strikeouts.
Ashley Platek ranks fifth in the GLIAC with a 2.01 ERA and is second on the team with 55.2 innings pitched and 34 strikeouts.
Parkside is 13-26 on the season and 4-10 in the GLIAC. The Rangers swept Wayne State over the last weekend before getting swept by Saginaw Valley State. Parkside is hitting .277 as a team and are being outscored by their opponents 227-161.
Cassie Rutledge leads Parkside offensively and ranks third in the GLIAC with a .389 batting average. Rutledge has notched 49 hits, 29 runs scored, 17 RBI's and eight doubles. Mia Johnson is hitting .371 on the season with a team leading 28 runs batted in. Haley Remington is batting .362 with 38 hits, 27 RBI's, and 21 runs scored. Olivia Masnica has made 18 appearances and 10 starts in the circle this season for the Rangers. Masnica has posted a 3.87 ERA and 5-4 record with 32 strikeouts.
