ST. LOUIS, MO – The GVSU women's lacrosse team closes out their Spring Break trip Wednesday afternoon with a top-15 clash with Maryville. The Lakers enter at 4-0 and number six in the IWLCA rankings, while Maryville is number 12 at 6-0.

This past weekend, the Lakers defeated 23
rd ranked Colorado Mesa 9-3 and then previously undefeated Missouri Western State 12-9.
Sydney Stone and
Aislynn Alkire earned GLIAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their efforts in the two games. Stone had a hat trick in both games to give her a team-leading 12 goals. Alkire grabbed eight groundballs and caused two turnovers to lead the Laker defense.
Ashleigh Rothe had four goals on the weekend,
Ella Boose had three, and
Maddy Champagne,
Hailey Crittenden, and
Ainsley Shilling each had two apiece.
Kaylyn Cater and
Sarah Krause each had a win in the cage, as they combined for 13 saves.
The Saints of Maryville are 6-0, defeating Ashland, Findlay, Northern Michigan, Concordia-St. Paul, Quincy, and Colorado Mesa to begin the season. They are outscoring the opposition 131-35 and have six players with double-digit goals so far. They are led by Sydney Tiemann, who has 36 goals, which ranks third in the country. Jesse Haynes has 25 goals and 10 assists, and Helen Bae has 32 points this year. The Saints have won the draw control battle 121-75, with Tiemann contributing 48. In net, Gianna Guzek has posted 29 saves and a .492 save percentage.
