ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's lacrosse team swept the GLIAC Player of the Week Awards this week, as
Sydney Stone earned Offensive Player of the Week and
Aislynn Alkire was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Sydney Stone was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following the Lakers two wins this weekend. Stone scored six times over the two games, while adding 10 draw controls, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers. In the 9-3 victory over #23 Colorado Mesa, Stone recorded a hat trick on just five shots. She grabbed five draw controls and caused two turnovers. On Sunday, Stone scored another hat trick and picked up another five draw controls, as the Lakers won 12-9. This season, Stone leads the team with 12 goals and 24 draw controls.
Earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week was senior defender
Aislynn Alkire. Alkire helped lead the Laker defense in two strong showings over the weekend, as they gave up 12 goals on 38 shots. In the 9-3 win over Colorado Mesa, Alkire had six groundballs and caused two turnovers. She followed that up with two more groundballs, caused two more turnovers, and grabbed a draw control in the victory over Missouri Western Sate. Alkire leads the Lakers with 12 groundballs and seven forced turnovers this year.
GVSU continues their roadtrip this Wednesday, as they are at Maryville. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 EST.
