Lakers Return Home to take on Notre Dame College

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU lacrosse team returns home for the second game of the year in Allendale. The Lakers are back to take on Notre Dame College Sunday afternoon at 12:00.

This past Sunday the Lakers went on the road and defeated Rockhurst 17-4 to move to 6-1 this year. Sydney Stone had a four-goal game, while Maddy Champagne added a hat trick. Delaney Smith and Ainsley Shilling both scored two goals each. Aislynn Alkire, Hope Leinen, and Ashleigh Rothe all caused multiple turnovers for the Laker defense that allowed only nine shots. Stone and Alkire both earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors for their performances, both winning the accolade for the second time this year.
 
Last year, these two teams met up in South Euclid, Ohio, with GVSU coming away with a 19-2 victory. Five players scored multiple goals for the Lakers, led by Champagne scoring four. Kate DeYoung added hat trick, with Rothe scoring twice. The Lakers won the draw control battle 18-7 and outshot the Falcons 32-9. The Lakers have won all six previous matchups against NDC, outscoring them 119- 54.
 
After winning their first game of the season, the Falcons have lost five of six since then. Their lone wins this year have come against Thomas More in the opener then Walsh last Saturday. they have been outscored 119-79 over their eight games. The Falcons have three players with more than 10 goals, Joselyn Storm (17), Grace Nickoloff (12), and Gwen Bogash (10). Annika Duncan has played all 480 minutes in net, recording 73 saves and a .380 save percentage.
