MONROE, N.C. – The GVSU men's golf team continued their hot streak to start the spring campaign, picking up a second consecutive victory, this time at the Ralph Hargett Memorial. The Lakers finished 15 strokes up on second-place, and had three golfers finish inside the top five.
Results
The Lakers came into the final round up 11 strokes, and increased it during the day, shooting a round of 284 (-4) to end at -20, 15 strokes up on second-place Tusculum. In third was Wingate, who ended at one over. Belmont Abbey was fourth at +25 and Hillsdale climbed three spots to end in fifth, carding a +26.
Drew Coble shot a final round of 68 (-4) to get the win. He made three birdies and an eagle, all on the back nine, to win his second straight individual title, this one at eleven under.
Manuel Cue Vargas ended in third, finishing at -7. He carded a final round score of 69 (-3), making five birdies.
Nick Krueger came in a tie for fifth, closing out the event with a round of 75 (+3), making four birdies to end at one under. Coming in a tie for 11
th was
Bryce Wheeler, who ended at one over after his final round of 72 (E), making three birdies.
Charlie Cooley ended in a tie for 29
th, making one birdie in his final round of a75 (+3).
