Diver Maddie Kooistra Wins National Title On 1-Meter Board

Grand Valley State finished action at the 2024 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The Laker men finished sixth with 236 points, while the women finished 16th with 81 points. Highlighting the final day was Maddie Kooistra claiming the National Championship on the 1-meter board with a score of 463.95.
 
Men
 
1650 Free – Senior Eric Hieber earned yet another All-American award with his fifth-place finish in a time 15:16.03. Jon Kantzenbach finished 13th, finishing in a time 15:33.36. 
 
100 Free – Matt Bosch earned All-America honors with his fourth-place finish, touching the wall in 43.24. 
 
200 Breast – Andrew Goh finished seventh in the 200 breast, hitting the wall in 1:57.64
 
200 Back – Thomas Zoldowski finished 10th in the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:45.19.
 
400 FR – The relay team of Matt Bosch, Evan Scotto DiVetta, Carsyn Christoffel and Roger Miret Sala hit the wall fifth in a time of 2:54.13. 
 
 
 
Women 
 
1-Meter Diving – Maddie Kooistra claimed the National Championship with a finals score of 463.95.
 
100 Free – Lucy Hedley earned All-America honors with her eighth-place finish in a time of 50.46. 
 
200 Breast – Katie O'Connell finished 26th in a time of 2:03.10, while Sara Alvarez was 31st (2:20.38). 
 
200 Back – Alice Persson finished 21st in 2:01.85, while Vittoria Proietti touched 22nd (2:0202). 
 
400 FR – The relay team of Kiersten Harmon, Tina Winter, Annabelle Nixon and Lucy Hedley finished 17th in a time of 3:27.39.
