ALLENDALE, Mich. — After starting the season with the Blue and Black Intrasquad Meet on Oct. 4, 2025, the Lakers will head to the Holland Aquatic Center to host the GVSU Invite, a two-day event on October 10 and 11. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 10 and at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 11.
Teams competing against the Lakers include Hope, McKendree and Saginaw Valley State.
Reflecting on last season, the women's swim and dive team finished eighth of 38 teams at the NCAA Division II Championships. The Lakers also captured their third consecutive GLIAC championship title. The women's team look to build on their success with several key additions to the roster, along with returning swimmers and divers, as they begin the new season.
The men are coming off a strong season as well, finishing fourth in the NCAA tournament out of 36 teams. They also won the GLIAC championship for the 11th consecutive year. The men look to build on that success with key returning swimmers and new additions to the roster.
"The GVSU Invite will be a great way to kick off the season. We will compete in all events except the 800 free relay and 1650 free."said Head Coach Boyce.
"We look to build on our conference championship and our 4th and 8th place national finishes from a year ago." added Coach Boyce.
"I am excited for this meet. We usually do not have an 11 dive format this early, but I am excited to see how it goes." said Diving Coach Burciaga
"The divers have been working hard and we still have a lot of work to do, but this is a good test to see where we are today and what we can improve on." added Diving Coach Burciaga
