Women's Lacrosse Heads On The Road To Face Rockhurst

ALLENDALE, MICH. – After playing their home opener last Sunday, the GVSU women's lacrosse team heads back out on the road for a Sunday afternoon matchup against Rockhurst. The Lakers and the Hawks square off at noon eastern down in Kansas City.

GVSU is 5-1 to begin the season, winning on Sunday against Ashland 16-3. It was the Lakers first home game of the season, and after falling behind 1-0, they scored seven straight goals to take a commanding lead. They never looked back from there, cruising to the win over the Eagles. Sydney Stone scored four goals, with Delaney Smith and Ashleigh Rothe both recording hat tricks. The Laker defense only allowed 10 shots, and senior defender Hope Leinen played a big part in that, as she was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Rockhurst has also begun the year with a 5-1 record, winning their first five games of the season, before fall to Regis on Wednesday. They have scored 84 goals over the six games, led by four players scoring more than 10. Atop the scoring charge is Mackenzie Blair, who has scored 17 times and dished out seven assists for a team-high 24 points. Catey Roux has 13 goals, Reagan Danner 11, and Dani Marby has 10. Goalkeeper Mae Beins has played all 360 minutes in the cage so far, tallying 56 saves and a .444 save percentage.
