ROSEMONT, Ill. – The No. 5 Grand Valley State softball team travels to Rosemont, Illinois this weekend for a slate of five games at the Lewis Dome Tournament. The Lakers will open the weekend on Friday (Feb. 23) when they play Minnesota Duluth at 10:00 AM ET.

The Lakers opened the 2024 campaign last weekend at the Lincoln Memorial Invitational down in Harrogate, Tennessee. GVSU went 2-2 on the weekend defeating Ohio Dominican 3-1 in the opening game and Lock Haven 11-1 in five innings the next day. The Lakers fell to Lincoln Memorial 7-4 and Ohio Dominican in the final game of the weekend 4-2.
Genesis Eggart was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week after tossing two complete games allowing just one run in each appearance. Eggart went 2-0 on the weekend striking out 11 batters while only giving up five hits.
Offensively,
Hannah Hollister notched a .455 batting average going 5-11 at the plate on the weekend. Hollister drove in a pair of runs and scored four runs. She batted in the leadoff spot in each of the four games and stole five bases in all five attempts.
Kelsey Komorous and
Faith Edwards notched a .400 batting average over the first four games. Edwards drove in three runs and scored twice, while Komorous drove in and scored one run.
MaryJane Goodman batted .333 including two doubles, four runs scored, and four runs batted in.
Liberti Fair led the Lakers with five RBIs over the weekend and notched a double and four total bases.
Natalie Johnson and
Carsyn Segorski each launched their first collegiate home runs.
