GVSU Men Claim 10th Consecutive GLIAC Title With 915 Points

Laker men claim 12 GLIAC titles

Grand Valley State swept the 2024 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships for the second consecutive year and the Laker men secured their 10th consecutive GLIAC Championship at the Holland Aquatic Center. The GVSU men finished with 915 points, well ahead of Northern Michigan (617.5) and Wayne State (594.5). The GVSU women tallied 999 points, followed by Wayne State (743) and Northern Michigan (726). Freshman Matthew Blommel was named the GLIAC Men's Diver of the Year and the GVSU coaching staff of head coach Andy Boyce, assistant coach Eric Murray and diving coach Steve Burciaga was named the GLIAC Men's and Women's Coaching Staff of the Year. The GVSU men's program has now won 13 GLIAC titles, while the women have six league titles. Grand Valley State will next be in action at the NCAA Championships March 13-16 in Geneva, Ohio. 

Men
1650 Free – Senior Eric Hieber finished second and hit the NCAA B cut with a time of 15:18.64, junior Jon Kantzenbach touched fourth and hit the NCAA B cut (15:35.46), Matthew Lane finished sixth with a NCAA B cut time of 15:44.49 and Evan Fox touched 12th in a time of 16:07.16. 
 
100 Free – Junior Jon Kantzenbach claimed went back-to-back with GLIAC titles in the 100 free with a time of 43.45 (NCAA B). Sophomore Carsyn Christoffel hit the NCAA B cut and finished sixth (45.10), followed by Evan Scotto DiVetta in ninth (44.45 (NCAA B).
 
200 Back – The Lakers went 3-4-5 and all hit the NCAA B cut. Thomas Zoldowski finished third (1:46.41), Roger Miret Sala fourth (1:46.47) and Will Herwig fifth (1:46.80). Freshman Milek Mathew hit the wall 15th(1:50.83)
 
200 Breast – Freshman Andrew Goh claimed the GLIAC Championship, set the GLIAC all-time record, the GLIAC meet record, the GVSU varsity record, the GVSU freshman record and hit the NCAA B cut with a time of 1:56.28. Izak Zaplatar placed sixth (2:01.03) and Jona Finn Sue 11th (2:01.86). 

400 Free Relay – The Lakers' relay team of Evan Scotto DiVetta, Carsyn Christoffel, Eric Hieber and Matt Bosch claimed the GLIAC title and set a GLIAC meet record with a time of 2:55.43.
