The Lakers Close Out 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Men Defeated Defending DII Champions.

Fort Pierce, Fla.-  The GVSU men's and women's swim and dive teams closed out the 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida. The men's swim and dive team defeated the defending NCAA DII Champions with a score of 151-142. They fell short 93-207 against Indian River. 

The women's team fell short against the University of Tampa and Indian River State this afternoon. On the women's side, Alysa Wager took sixth place in the 50 yard fly with a time of 26.45. 

Katie O'Connell took fourth place in the 500 yard free with a time of 5:07.07 and Linda Frick came in right behind her. 

Lucy Hedley touched the wall at 52.94 to take fourth place for the Lakers in the 100 yard free. Kiersten Harmon was right behind Hedley. 

Linda Frick touched the wall at 1:54.62 in the 200 yard free to take third place. O'Connell and Hedley were right behind her in fourth and fifth place. 

The 200 yard free relay finished fourth with a time of 1:38.32. The members include Lucy Hedley, Linda Frick, Angelica Angilletta, and Kiersten Harmon. The women's 200 yard medley relay took sixth with a time of 1:49.47. The members are Alice Perrson, Liv Geiger, Alysa Wager, and Kiersten Harmon

Maddie Kooistra took second place in the 1 mtr. Dive with a score of 257.47. Macy Polasek and Sadie Huizenga took third and fourth. Koositra scored a 251.77 to take second place for the Lakers in the 3 mtr. Dive. Polasek and Olivia Kutsche took third and fourth. 

On the men's side, Esteban Nunez Del Prado finished first place in the 100 yard IM with a time of 48.77. He touched the wall at 21.51 in the 50 yard fly to take second place. 

Raul Briceno finished fourth place in the men's 500 yard free with a time of 4.29.31. Ojeda Bosch and Zeno Rauch took sixth and seventh. 

Andrew Goh placed third in the 100 yard breast with a time of 55.25.  Matt Bosch took first place for the Lakers in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:37.58. 

The Grand Valley State Men's 200 yard free relay finished second with a time of 1:20.93. The members of the 200 yard medley relay touched the wall at 1:30.14 to take fourth place. The members include Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, and Evan Scotto DiVetta

Matthew Blommel scored a 278.32 for the Lakers in the 1 mtr. Dive and took second place and he took third in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 263.3
