Grand Valley State Dominates at Live in Lou XC Classic

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Grand Valley State Lakers dominated this morning at the Live in Lou XC Classic taking home first place in the gold division races on both the men's and women's side.
 
The women's squad recorded a low team score of 58 points on the day, finishing ahead of the current No.1 ranked team in the Nation; Adams State (95 pts), followed by Eastern Michigan (155pts) and Louisville (224pts). 
 
The Lakers recorded eight Top 50 finishes in the women's 5k Gold, led by senior Natalie Graber as she claimed second place with a time of 16:58.3 and sophomore Lauren Kiley who finished fifth in a time of 17:08.5. 
 
In addition, Ana Tucker took home ninth place with a time of 17:11.8, Klaudia O'Malley (15th) recording a personal-best time of 17:23.9, Taryn Chapko (27th) in a time of 17:37.0, Abby VanderKooi (32nd) with a time of 17:43.1 and Allie Arnsman rounding out their score in 33rd recording a time of 17:43.1. 
 
The men's squad battled it out with the current No.2 ranked team in the Nation, Adams State, Grand Valley Stated pulled ahead with a team score of 104 points while Adams State recorded 105 points followed by Purdue (160pts) and West Texas A&M (164pts). 
 
The Laker men recorded their first Top 5 runners within a 10 second spread. Senior, Andrew Hylen and Sophomore Elias Bergman finished back to back for the Lakers, claiming 14th (Hylen) with a time of 24:03.6 and 15th (Bergman) in a new personal-best time of 24:05.5. 
 
Additionally, Caleb Futter placed 23rd in a time of 24:10.3 followed by Koby Fraaza (25th) with a time of 24:11.6, Cal Yackin (27th) recording a time of 24:14.0, Brock Wooderson (37th) in a time of 24:23.8 and Conor Somers (57th) with a new personal-best time of 24:36.0.
 
In the blue division at the Live in Lou XC Classic, the men finished second with a team score of 177 points, while the women placed fourth with an overall score of 192 points. Colin Kachlic and Colin Hanson led the men finished 10th(Kachlic) with a time of 24:56.6 and 34th (Hanson) in a time of 25:26.4.
 
At the Calvin Knight Invite, the Laker Men finished in second place with four runners in the Top 10 and a team score of 41 points. Jayden Page in fifth with a time of 25:34, Ryan Mansour in sixth in a time of 25:34, Justin Hill (7th) recording a time of 26:00 and Jack Duinnick (10th) with a time of 26:03. 
 
Grand Valley State travels to Romeoville, Illinois next weekend (Saturday, October 7th) to compete in the Lewis Crossover Invite.
