INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The GVSU men's golf team was back in action today after a two-week layoff in between tournaments. Down in Indianapolis for the Indianapolis Invitational, the Lakers sit in first place after two rounds of play, and
Drew Coble and
Nick Krueger are both tied for first individually.
Results
The Lakers shot rounds of 284 and 279 and are at -13 for the tournament, jumping into the lead during the second round. They overtook now second place Ferris State, who sits four strokes back of the Lakers with one round to play. In third place is Wayne State at four under, followed by host Indianapolis at -3. Rounding out the top five is McKendree, who is at four over for the tournament.
Coble and Krueger are two of the three golfers tied for the top spot after Monday's rounds of golf, as they are both at six under. Coble had rounds of 71 (-1) and 67 (-5), making four birdies in the first round and six more plus and eagle in round two. Krueger shot rounds of 68 (-4) and 70 (-2), sinking four birdies in round one and five more in round two to sit atop the leaderboard.
Manuel Cue Vargas is tied for 10
th at one under, as he carded rounds of 73 (+1) and 70 (-2) with eight total birdies on the day.
Charlie Cooley made one eagle and six birdies over his rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3), as he is tied for 32
nd at three over.
Alex Jordan is tied for 46
th after day one, shooting rounds of 77 (+5) and 72 (E), making eight birdies. In a tie for 51
st is
Murphy Kehoe who made seven birdies over his two rounds of 75 (+3).
The Lakers close out the tournament tomorrow with the final 18 holes of play.
