Women's Lacrosse Is Back Home For Matchup With CSP

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's lacrosse team kicks off the holiday weekend with a home rematch against Concordia-St. Paul tomorrow afternoon at 4:00.

This will be the second time these two teams have matched up this season, with GVSU winning 17-10 in St. Paul back on March 24th. Molly Bursinger scored five goals in that game to pace the Lakers, while Hailey Crittenden tallied a hat trick. Sarah Krause earned the win in net, saving four shots. GVSU has still never lost to the Golden Bears in program history, winning all nine matchups between the two squads.
 
The Lakers enter the game hot, winning their four previous games, and have outscored their opponents 69-22. The winning streak has moved GVSU to 7-4 this season and 2-0 in conference play, where they sit alone atop the GLIAC standings. Five different players have scored a hat trick during the streak, with Bursinger scoring a hat trick in all four games. A big part of the success has been the domination of the draw control by the Lakers. GVSU ranks third nationally in draw controls per game at 17.55, and they are fourth in draw control percentage, winning 63.1% of their draw controls. For the fourth time in the last five weeks, a GVSU player took home the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award, with Maddy Champagne winning it this past week. In the wins over NDC was the 100th of her career.
 
CSP is 6-7 this season and 2-2 in conference, beating Davenport twice and losing to GVSU and NMU. The Golden Bears are 4-5 on the road this season, losing three of their past four games away from Minnesota. CSP has the top goal scorer in the GLIAC with Lauren Sheets, who has netted 40 goals thus far. Candace McDole has saved 109 shots in goal, to lead the conference, and her 46.0 save percentage is second in the league.
