Women's Lacrosse Preps For GLIAC Championship Game

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's lacrosse team will play for a GLIAC title tomorrow afternoon when they take on Northern Michigan at noon. The Lakers are looking to sweep the regular season and conference tournament titles for a third consecutive season.

The Lakers got into the championship game after a big 21-2 victory over Davenport. Molly Bursinger and Maddy Champagne scored four goals each, and Maggie Hammer, Ashleigh Rothe, and Sydney Stone all tallied hat tricks. Kaylyn Cater had a shutout in the first half and saved three shots in net. The Wildcats moved on to Sunday with a 15-11 win over Concordia-St. Paul.
 
GVSU swept the Wildcats in both matchups earlier this year, winning 16-8 at home and then 23-10 up in Marquette to close out the regular season. In the first game, Champagne scored five times, while Hammer and Bursinger each netted hat tricks. In the final regular season game, Bursinger and Champagne each scored five goals, while Hammer and Hailey Crittenden scored four apiece. Audrey Maloney got the win in each game, saving a combined seven shots.
