Matt Bosch Finishes as NCAA Runner-Up in Men's 200 Free

INDIANAPOLIS—The Grand Valley State swimming and diving teams saw another action packed day at the IU Natatorium on Thursday, including an NCAA runner-up performance.
 
Matt Bosch finished as the NCAA runner-up in the men's 200-yard freestlye, clocking in a time of 1:34.87 to take home a silver medal at the national meet. Roger Miret Sala placed seventh in the same race, touching the wall with a time of 1:36.50. Bosch swam a time of 1:35.79 and Miret Sala finished with a time of 1:36.39 in the prelims to earn a spot in the championship final. Eric Hieber took 23rd and Austin Millard touched 28th overall in the prelims as well for GVSU.
 
Keegan Hawkins took seventh in the men's 400-yard individual relay with a time of 3:51.61 in the championship final of the event. He placed eighth in the prelims with a time of 3:52.31 to set up his championship final appearance.
 
In the 3-meter dive, Wrigley Fields and Isaiah Swilley both made the consolation final. Fields took 13th overall with a score of 418.30 in the consolation final. Swilley was 14th overall with a score of 412.15 in the consolation final. Fields finished ninth in the prelims and Swilley placed 15th in the prelims.
 
The Laker men's 400-yard medley relay team took 10th with a time of 3:13.26.
 
Alysa Wager took sixth in the championship finals of the 100-yard butterly with a time of 54.31 seconds. In the prelims, she swam a time of 54.43 seconds to advance to the championship final.
 
Katie O'Connell placed seventh in the country in the women's 400-yard individual medley. She swam a time of 4:21.95 for seventh place. O'Connell tied for sixth in the prelims with a time of 4:22.22 to advance to the championship final. Gaia Tomaselli took 36th in the 400-yard individual medley prelims with a time of 4:37.88.
 
The GVSU women's 400-medley relay team placed 13th with a time of 3:45.32.
 
GVSU returns to action in Indianapolis at 10 a.m. on Friday for prelims of the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard butterfly. The women's 3-meter dive prelims and finals will also take place on Friday. Finals action on Friday begins at 6 p.m.
