ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's lacrosse team opens the home portion of their GLIAC schedule with a Friday night matchup against Northern Michigan. The two teams are also partnering up with Morgan's Message to fight the stigma around student-athlete mental health. The game will begin at 2pm, after being moved up due to thunderstorms.

The Lakers opened conference play last Friday with a 17-10 victory over Concordia-St. Paul.
Molly Bursinger scored five times in the win and added two assists.
Hailey Crittenden tallied a hat trick, while
Zoe Ziegler,
Maddy Champagne, and
Ella Boose all scored twice.
Sarah Krause picked up her second consecutive victory in the cage, saving three shots. The win moved GVSU back above .500 at 5-4 and gave them a 1-0 start to conference play for the 10
th consecutive GLIAC campaign.
Northern Michigan is also 1-0 to open conference play, as they defeated CSP 13-11 in mid-March. Overall, the Wildcats are 6-4 this season, but only 3-4 on the road. They enter the game having lost two of their last three games, last winning this past Saturday at McKendree. NMU has three players who have over 25 points this season, led by Minnie Brittell's 33. Hannah Melander has started all 10 games, saving 81 shots and posting a .416 save percentage.
Morgan's Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics.
