Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Ill.—The Grand Valley State softball team won two games at the Lewis Dome Tournament, beating Truman State in six innings, 10-2, and defeating William Jewell, 2-1.

GAME 1 – GVSU 10, Truman State 2

The Lakers won a second consecutive game via the run-rule, defeating Truman State in six innings of play.
Â
The Lakers used a pair of four-run innings to complete a run-rule victory.
Â
Heading into the bottom half of the fifth tied, 2-2, GVSU came out and put up a four-spot.
Joanna Cirrincione and
Morgan Wagner each hit RBI doubles before
Eliana Eiland drove in two runs to give the Lakers a 6-2 lead.

The next inning, the Lakers put up four more runs to go up eight and clinch a run-rule victory. Cirrincione and
Lydia Goble each hit RBI triples to go up 8-2. Wagner singled in a run and then got driven in by
Kylie Sinal to go up 10-2 and conclude the game via run-rule.

In the circle,
Nevaeh Ingram started for the Lakers and gave up two runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings.
Hannah Beatus earned the win after coming into the game in relief of Ingram. She gave up two hits and didn't allow a run in 1.2 innings of work.

GAME 2 – GVSU 2, William Jewell 1

Liberti Fair hit a walk-off home run to give GVSU a fourth consecutive victory to open the season.Â

In the lower scoring game of the day for GVSU, it got its first run of the day after
Morgan Wagner doubled in
Joanna Cirrincione to take a, 1-0, lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

William Jewell tied the game in the top of the seventh inning before Fair walked it off in the bottom half of the seventh.
Â
Wagner and
Megan Koenigshof both had two-hit games for the Lakers as well.
Â
Ashley Platek threw a complete game for the Lakers and allowed just the one run on five hits. Platek threw six strikeouts and three walks.
