GVSU Men And Women First At GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships After Day 1

GLIAC Day 1 Results

The Grand Valley State men's and women's swimming & diving teams turned in a solid first day at the 2023 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships being held at the Holland Aquatic Center. The Laker women scored 293.5 points on day one, just ahead of second place Wayne State (256.5). The GVSU men tallied 229.5 points and lead second place Wayne State (158.5). 
 
Women 
 
200 Medley Relay – GVSU touched first in the 200 medley relay as Angelica Angilletta, Delaney Wihebrink, Alysa Wager and Rebecca Farber hit the wall in an NCAA B cut time of 1:42.56.
 
1000 Free – Gaia Tomaselli finished fourth and hit the NCAA B cut (10:13.14), followed by Lucy Hedley in sixth (10:20.51 NCAA B), Sarah Puscas in eighth (10:25.24), Bianca Licari in 11th (10:35.22) and Kayley Gallagher in 13th (10:36.84).
 
200 IM – Katie O'Connell finished third and hit the NCAA B cut with a time of 2:05.10, while Alysa Wager hit the wall fifth (2:06.70). Dayna Borregard hit the wall 12th (2:09.63), Linda Frick 13th (2:10.53) and Delaney Wihebrink 14th (2:10.83). 
 
50 Free – Rebecca Farber hit the NCAA B cut with her second place finish (23.50), while Tina Winter also hit the NCAA B cut (23.86) with a fourth place finish. Angelica Angilletta finished ninth (24.33) and Emma Bliss 15th (24.44).
 
200 Free Relay – Rebecca Farber, Tina Winter, Alysa Wager and Emma Bliss set a GVSU varsity record and hit the NCAA provisional mark with the second-place time of 1:33.60.
 
1-Meter Diving – Gracyn Segard finished second with a score of 422.20, followed by Maddie Kooistra in third (407.80), Jess McEachern in fourth (392.60), Nicole Carlson in sixth (380.90), Carissa Wooley in seventh (374.30) and Samantha Plough in eighth. 
 
 
Men
 
200 Medley Relay – The Laker men finished second in the 200 medley relay. Aaron Dies, Keegan Hawkins, Kyle Raskay and Matt Bosch hit the wall in an NCAA B cut time of 1:28.10.
 
1000 Free – Eric Hieber won his third consecutive GLIAC title in the 1000 free and hit the NCAA B cut with a time of 9:04.47. Jon Kantzenbach finished second and hit the NCAA B cut (9:09.40), followed by Matthew Lane in eighth (9:23.82 NCAA B), Austin Millard in ninth (9:27.15 NCAA B), Connor French in 13th (9:40.70) and Jesse Goodyear in 14th (9:40.82). 
 
200 IM – Keegan Hawkins won his second consecutive GLIAC title in the 200 IM when he hit the wall first and hit the NCAA B cut with a time of 1:47.84. Roger Miret Sala finished third and hit the B cut (1:48.36), followed by Thomas Zoldowski in sixth (1:51.27 NCAA B). Will Herwig (1:50.19) and Markus Kruse (1:50.29) finished ninth and 10th, respectively, and hit the NCAA B cut.
 
50 Free – Matt Bosch hit the wall third (20.15) and hit the NCAA B cut, while Evan Scotto DiVetta finished 10th in and NCAA B cut time of 20.31). Brennan Neitzel touched 11th (20.69) and Kyle Raskay 13th (20.84). 

200 Free Relay – The Lakers finished second as Brennan Neitzel, Aaron Dies, Evan Scotto DiVetta and Kyle Raskay hit the NCAA provisional mark with a time of 1:20.58.
