ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State Swimming & Diving swept GLIAC foe Northern Michigan Saturday afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Pool with a combined team score of 326-160.
The No.12 GVSU women knocked off their second CSCAA top 10 team in as many weeks with a 159-84 victory over No.7 Northern Michigan.
The No.6 GVSU men took down their second top 15 opponent. Two weeks after dominating No.15 Saginaw Valley State, the Lakers knocked off No.14 Northern Michigan 167-76.

Junior
Maddie Kooistra, who has garnered two GLIAC Diver of the Week honors, swept the diving competition. Kooistra posted 263.92 in the 3-meter dive. Grand Valley State notched the top five spots in the 3-meter dive with senior

Sadie Huizenga also finished in the top five.
The Lakers took the top three spots in the 1-meter dive. Kooistra won, positing 439.49 in the event. McEachern took second and Huizenga took third, both posting scores of more than 400.
Sophomore
Lucy Hedley won multiple events for the third straight week. Hedley, who is the two-time reigning GLIAC Swimmer of the Week, won the 50 freestyle in 24.02. Freshman
Annabelle Nixon and junior
Kiersten Harmon finished second and third. Hedley also claimed victory in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 52.91. Harmon and Nixon took second and third, respectively.
Hedley also anchored the 400 yard medley relay, which claimed first place, finishing in 3:52.28. She was joined by teammates
Vittoria Proietti,
Natalia Hermanowska and
Alysa Wager. Proietti, who is a freshman, also touched first in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:03.94. Freshman
Alice Persson finished in second place.
Sophomore
Angelica Angilletta also scored a first place finish. She touched the wall in 1:55.62 in the 200 freestyle. Not far behind was sophomore teammate
Linda Frick, who touched second.
To cap off a convincing victory over a top 10 opponent, GVSU won the 200 freestyle relay. Angilletta anchored the team, posting the fastest split of 24.31. She was joined by Harmon, Wager, and
Tina Winter in the winning effort.
The GVSU Women's Swimming & Diving team was ranked No.12 in the initial CSCAA poll. The victory over No.7 Northern Michigan caps off an October that saw the Lakers go 4-0 with two victories over top 10 opponents. A new poll will be released in November.

Matt Bosch broke the GVSU Fieldhouse Pool record with a time of 44.89. This would become one of two victories Bosch posted. The reigning GLIAC Swimmer of the Week also scored victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.31. Additionally, Bosch recorded the fastest split time, 46.30, of the victorious 400 yard medley relay. Joining Bosch in posting a 3:24.03 time is

Roger Miret Sala.
The Lakers dominated in the freestyle events. In the 200 freestyle, the Lakers would take the top four spots. Junior
Austin Millard finished second, senior
Zach Lowe finished third and Miret Sala took fourth. Sophomore Evan Scotto Divetta would also claim second behind Bosch in the 100 freestyle.
Senior
Eric Hieber swept the distance races. He posted a time of 9:36.66 in the 1,000 freestyle. Adding to the point totals in the race was junior
Jon Kantzenbach and senior
Matthew Lane. Hieber and Kantzenbach would finish first and second again in the 500 freestyle. Hieber touched first in 4:37.39.
Kantzenbach finished first in the 200 butterfly, posting a time of 1:54.95. Miret Sala, who is a graduate student, touched just after him for second place.
Zoldowski, who is a junior, won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.07. Goh, who is a sophomore also scored a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.60.
GVSU took first and second place on the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Scotto Divetta, Millard,
Travis Black and
Brennan Neitzel touched first in 1:24.04. Within two seconds later,
Aaron Dies, Hieber,
Kyle Raskay and
Carsyn Christoffel secured more points and defeated Northern Michigan's top team.
The No.6 GVSU Men's Swimming & Diving Team finishes October with a 3-1 record, including victories over two CSCAA top 15 teams. The Lakers came within four points of knocking off the reigning national champions and finishing the month undefeated.

The Lakers will take a week off to rest. On Nov. 10, GVSU will travel to old GLIAC foe Oakland University, who is now a member of the NCAA's Division I. The meet is scheduled to start 1 p.m. in Rochester Hills, Mich. at the Oakland Aquatic Center.
