ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – Former Grand Valley State runner and current assistant coach,
Alan Peterson completed the 2023 McKirdy Micro Marathon in Rockland Lake State Park, New York on Saturday, October 14
th.
Peterson finished fifth overall, breaking his previous PR time by 15 seconds and setting a new personal-best time of 2:14:31, qualifying him to race in the U.S Olympic trials in Orlando, Florida this coming February.
Peterson is currently in his third season as the assistant coach for Grand Valley State Cross Country and additionally was a Laker himself between the 2010-2014 season. Peterson was a two time All-American, GLIAC Commissioner's Award winner in 2014 & 2015 as well as won the 2013 GLIAC Outdoor Championships in the 5000m race.
The 2024 U.S Olympic Team Trials will take place on February 3
rd, 2024 hosted in Orlando, Florida. Peterson will race for a chance to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
