MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN – The Grand Valley State men and women's squad finished out the regular season at the Muskegon Jayhawk Invite on Saturday, taking home a first-place finish on both sides.
The Laker men recorded a total team score of 17 points, finishing with all 15 runners in the Top 50 and seven runners within the Top 10. While the women finished with an overall score of 23 points and five runners in the Top 10.
Junior,
Daniel Lambert led the men's squad to victory today as he took home first place with a time of 25:13.28 followed by
Colin Kachlic in second with a time of 25:13.73 and
Colin Hanson in third in a time of 25:23.58.
Sam Martens,
Joey Rinke,
Zac Zemba and
Jayden Page rounded out the Lakers Top seven scores, finishing in fifth (Martens) with a time of 25:26.83, sixth (Rinke) in a time of 25:31.39, seventh (Zemba) with a time of 25:36.60 and ninth (Page) recording a time of 25:49.42.
On the women's side, junior
Jordyn Hopgood was the first Laker to cross the line finishing in first place with a time of 18:14.18.
Maria Widmann claimed sixth place in a time of 18:50.33, followed by
Sydney Nesbitt in seventh recording a time of 18:55.61.
Paige McAloon and
Cameron Cleveland finished back to back, placing ninth (McAloon) and tenth (Cleveland).
The Lakers travel to Houghton, Michigan on Saturday, October 21
st to compete in the GLIAC Championships hosted by Michigan Tech.
