ALLENDALE, MICH. – This Sunday and Monday, the Grand Valley women's golf program is set to host their first home match of the 2022-23 season, as they host the 13
th Annual Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite at the Meadows Golf Course.
The Lakers are the reigning champions of this tournament, winning the 2021 trophy by 11 strokes. All four ladies that are competing this year in the event finished in the top-10 of last year's tournament.
Paula Badino won the tournament shooing a 149, with
Julia Sanchez right behind her in second, carding a 150.
Megan Miron captured fifth place at 152, and
Olivia Stoll was tied for eighth, shooting a 155.
There will be 15 teams competing in the event this year, with nine of them coming from within the GLIAC. In addition to Grand Valley's team, there is also Wayne State, SVSU, Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, Davenport, LSSU, and two teams from Ferris State. Non-GLIAC teams include Tiffin, Lewis, Kentucky Wesleyan, Gannon, Walsh, and Northwood.
This will be the third tournament of the fall season for the Lakers, as they have already competed at the Indianapolis Fall Invitational, where they finished fifth as a team and Stoll took third place individually. GVSU plays 36 holes at the Bulldog Invite tomorrow up in Big Rapids before coming back down for their own event the next two days.
