EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 21 Grand Valley State softball team is headed to the NCAA Midwest Super Regionals in search of their third straight trip to the Division II Women's College World Series. The Lakers, seeded third in the Midwest Region, will visit top-seeded Southern Indiana for the best-of-three series this Thursday and Friday (May 19-20).
THE TEAMS
The Lakers (GLIAC, 43-6) went 3-0 through their regional bracket, downing 6-seed Ohio Dominican, 1-0, before a 7-0 win over host and 2-seed Indianapolis behind a no-hitter from
Hannah Beatus, then capped the weekend in Indy with a 15-1 win over 7-seed Findlay in the finals. The Lakers were an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament after winning a GLIAC regular season title and were tournament runners up.
The Screaming Eagles (GLVC, 47-11) fell in the opening round to 8-seed Saginaw Valley, but bounced back to beat 4-seed Lindenwood and 5-seed Drury before taking two from the Cardinals on the final day to punch their ticket to the regional championships.
