AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's golf team dropped to Ferris State a 3-2 decision in the GLIAC Championship Semifinals at Stoatin Brae Golf Club in Augusta, Michigan. The Lakers entered Medal Match play as the number two seed (583/+15) after 36-holes of stroke play. Davenport was first (562/-6), Ferris State third (584/+16), and Northwood fourth (593/+24). In the
Medal Match, each match is scored by the
cumulative number of strokes won by rather than the number of holes won. Up 3 means that the player is
up by 3 strokes, not 3 holes. The player up by the most strokes after 18 holes wins the match.
In the semifinals,
Charles DeLong (4 up) and
Drew Coble (3 up) each won their match.
Tanner Moore (1 down),
Eric Nunn (2 down), and
Nick Krueger (6 down) dropped their matches against the Bulldogs.
The Lakers will next compete at the NCAA Super Regionals on May 5 -7 in Noblesville, Ind. at the Purgatory Golf Club.
