AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's golf team advances to the GLIAC Men's Golf Championships match-play semifinals at the Stoatin Brae Golf Course after finishing second in stroke play on day two carding 583 (+15). The Lakers tallied 11 birdies in the second round to beat out third place Ferris State at 16-over par. Davenport finished first scoring six-under par (562). Northwood finished fourth (+25) and will also be competing in the semifinals.
Match-play will begin at 10:00 am in Augusta, Mich. with the #2 Lakers squaring off against the #3 Bulldogs in the semifinals. The winning team will advance to the finals later on in the day to play against with the winning team from #1 Davenport vs. #4 Northwood.
Leading the Lakers,
Charles DeLong finished the day in fourth carding 141 (-1). DeLong notched seven birdies and 23 pars throughout the first 36-holes of the tournament ending round one at 69, and carding 72 in round two.
Tanner Moore moved up two spots tied for seventh scoring 72 (+1) in the second round and scoring two-over par (144) after 36-holes. Moore led the Lakers on par 4s average one-under par with four birdies and 11 pars.
Nick Krueger and
Eric Nunn tied for 19th carding 150 (+8). Nunn moved up four spots recording three birdies in the back nine in round two.
Drew Coble tied for 24th scoring nine-over par (151).
