The No. 10 Grand Valley State Lakers open up at home on Friday, March 11, against the Findlay Oilers at 2:00 p.m. and match up with the Tiffin Dragons at home on Sunday, March 13, at noon. After six games on the road, the Lakers are 5-1 with their only loss this season against the No. 2 Indianapolis Greyhounds.
The Lakers are coming back from a four game road trip where they capped off the trip with a 8-7 win over the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. So far this seaon, the Lakers are being led by juinor Molly Bursinger who has netted 18 goals, while grabbing 13 ground balls and winning 42 draw controls. Senior Sophie Conroy is right behind Bursinger, as Conroy has scored 17 goals this season and dished out six assists, scoring 23 points across just six games. Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Maloney has already recorded 45 saves this season.
Findlay is off to an 0-2 start this season and is coming off of a 20-4 loss to No. 6 Florida Southern. The last matchup between the Oilers and Lakers was last year, as GVSU defeated Findlay 18-4 on the road. The Lakers lead the overall series against UF 8-0.
Tiffin travels to GVSU with an 0-3 record as they're coming off a 17-4 loss to Notre Dame College. Grand Valley State opened up the 2021 season on the road against the Dragons last year and defeated Tiffin 21-3. GVSU leads the overall series 13-2.
