The Grand Valley State men's swimming & diving team captured its eighth consecutive GLIAC Championship with a four-day team total of 973 points at the 2022 GLIAC Championships. The Lakers outdistanced second-place Wayne State (577) by 396 points. The Laker women finished third with 765 points, 81.5 points behind first-place finishing Northern Michigan (846.5). Grand Valley State dominated the individual awards following the championship.
Andy Boyce was named the GLIAC Men's Coach of the Year, marking the ninth time he has earned the honor. Senior
Keegan Hawkins was named the GLIAC Men's Swimmer of the Year, while senior
Samantha Laurich was named the GLIAC Women's Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive year. Freshman
Jon Kantzenbach was named the GLIAC Men's Freshman of the Year. GVSU won a combined 16 GLIAC event titles and hit 38 NCAA B cuts in event finals.
The Lakers will next compete at the 2022 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships March 9-12 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Eric Hieber continued his dominance at the GLIAC Championships with his first-place finish in the 1650 free (15:26.31). In addition to hitting the NCAA B cut, the win marked the second consecutive year that Hieber swept the distance free events (500, 1000, 1650). Freshman
