The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced that Grand Valley State punter
Trace Hrgich has been named GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Hrgich played a key role in the #2 Lakers' 29-10 victory over #17 Saginaw Valley State with his ability to change field position. Hrgich averaged 48.5 yards per punt, dropped two inside the 10 yard line, forced three fair catches, allowed zero punt return yards and had a long of 61 yards in the top 20 matchup. His 48.5 yards per punt average ranks 4th all-time in Laker football history for a single-game. Trace is averaging 44.5 yards per punt this season and has dropped six inside the 20.
Grand Valley State will hit the road for a non-conference contest at American International in Springfield, Mass. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
