Grand Valley State swept the GLIAC men's and women's swimming & diving honors for the week after a combined five dual-meet victories over Hope, Calvin and Hillsdale. Freshman swimmer Lucy Hedley, junior diver Jess McEachern, senior diver Wrigley Fields and senior swimmer Roger Miret Sala led the way for the sixth-ranked Laker men and the 18th-ranked women. GVSU will hit the road this week for a dual against the #1-ranked Indianapolis men and the #4-ranked Indy women. 

Hedley opened her career as collegiate swimmer in fine fashion, recording a pair of NCAA B cuts and winning four individual events as the #18 Lakers picked up three dual meet wins. Hedley picked up wins and hit the NCAA B cut versus Calvin and Hillsdale in the 200 free (1:51.09) and 500 free (5:03.63). Hedley also tallied wins vs. Hope in the 500 free (5:03.63) and the 1000 free (10:26.73). McEachern opened the 2022-23 campaign with a pair of wins and a runner-up finish on the opening weekend. McEachern finished first on the 3-meter board at Calvin with a score of 255.29, while finishing second on the 1-meter with a score of 253.11. She finished first on the 3-meter board versus Hope with a score of 203.77 and tallied an 11-dive score of 423.14 on the 1-meter board. 
 
Miret Sala opened the season with a pair of individual wins and hit an NCAA B cut as GVSU captured dual meet wins over Calvin and Hope. Miret Sala hit an NCAA B cut time and touched fist in the 200 free (1:38.46), while also winning the 100 back (51.29). He finished second in the 100 back (52.08) and third in the 200 back (1:55.89) versus Hope. Miret Sala was also was a part of three first-place finishing relay teams (200 free, 400 free, 400 medley). Fields hit two NCAA cuts and recorded four first-place finishes as the #6 Lakers captured dual meet wins over Calvin and Hope. Fields hit an NCAA cut on the 1-meter board at Calvin with a score of 286.95, while also finishing first on the 3-meter board with a score of 256.65. Fields added an 11-dive win and hit the NCAA cut on the 1-meter board with a score of 473.25, followed by a win on the 3-meter board (194.02).
