GVSU Finishes in Top 5 at Bradley Pink Classic

PEORIA, ILL. – The Grand Valley State men's cross country team took home third place as the women finished fourth overall in the Red Division down in Peoria, Ill at the Bradley Pink Classic. The Lakers additionally swept the White Division finishing in first place for both the men's and women's teams.
 
In the Red Division, Caleb Futter led the Lakers to a third place finish with a total of 96 points placing behind Witchita State (84) and Loyola (82). Futter finished first for the Lakers placing fifth with a time of 23:39.4. In addition, Grand Valley State finished with six runners in the Top 50: Brock Wooderson  (20th), Andrew Hylen (24th), Koby Fraaza (27th), Samuel Martens (38th), Scott Spaanstra (39th) and Daniel Lambert (46th). 
 
On the women's side, Natalie Graber was the first Laker to cross the line with a time of 20:27.6 finishing in eighth place followed by Klaudia O'Malley who placed seventeenth with a time of 20:41.6. Grand Valley State finished with five runners in to the Top 50, scoring a total of 122 points falling shorting behind three Division I programs: Bradley (106), Illinois (83) and Northwestern (68).  
 
In the White Division on the women's side, Grand Valley State had five out of seven Lakers finish within the Top 10, Shayna Altvater being the first Laker to cross the line finishing in third place with a time of 21:46.4. Trailing shortly behind was Emma Everhart-Deckard (4th), Analynne Klotz (7th), Jordyn Hopgood (8th) and Maggie O'Malley (10th), scoring a total of 24 points on the day. 
 
For the men, the Lakers finished with all seven runners in the Top 20 recording an overall score of 22 points. Nicholas Hoffman and Samuel Baustert finished back to back for Grand Valley State taking home first (Hoffman) and second (Baustert) place with a time of 24:33.7 and 24:57.0, followed by Caleb Swart (4th) and Justin Hill (6th).
 
The Lakers will head to New Boston, Michigan in 3 weeks (Nov. 4th) to compete at the GLIAC Championships in anticipation for another repeat program victory.
