EUREKA, MO. – The Grand Valley women's golf program finished off the NCAA Nationals Preview event in Missouri this afternoon. Battling a strong tournament field, the Lakers had the fourth best final round and climbed up the leaderboard to end the tournament in fifth, behind only four of the top 20 teams in the nation.
"This week was about learning the course and building confidence," stated head coach
Rebecca Mailloux. "We are excited to continue working towards our goal of competing at Nationals this year."
Dallas Baptist won the event at +32, defeating second-place Henderson State by four strokes. West Texas A&M was third at thirty-seven over par, while Missouri-St. Louis came in fourth at +52, followed by Grand Valley in fifth with a final score of +63.
Olivia Stoll ended the tournament in a tie for 11
th place (+11) after carding a round of 78 today, with two birdies and an eagle.
Paula Badino was tied for 17
th (+15), as she recorded three birdies en route to a third-round score of 76.
Megan Miron was tied for twentieth this week after recording four birdies in her final round of 75 to finish at sixteen over for the tournament.
Julia Sanchez was the final Laker in the event, carding a final round score of 76 with two birdies today, and ended the invitational in a tie for 29
th at +21.
