FINDLAY, Ohio –
Charles DeLong finished third at -5 (211) on the third round of the Doc Spragg Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 21 in Findlay, Ohio. DeLong came back from 10th after day one, after he notched two eagles in the final round. DeLong hit his first eagle on a par 5 553-yard hole, and his second eagle of the day, on the same hole he hit an eagle on the day before, on a par 5 496-yard hole.
DeLong was awarded All-Tournament Team for his third place finish.
As a team, the Lakers finished fifth scoring 877 (+13) after starting the day in eighth at 586 (+10). Indianapolis placed first at 851 (-13), Missouri – St. Louis finished second scoring 868 (+4), and Findlay in third with 869 (+5).
Drew Coble had five birdies throughout the final 18, however, was unable to grow his lead and finished 20th at +2 (218).
Nick Krueger placed tied for 20th +4 (220), followed by
Alex Jordan tied for 65 at +13 (229) and
Cooper Bell tied for 64 at +16 (232).
"It was not our best week, but we have a clear picture of what we need to do to improve going forward," said head coach
Gary Bissell. "We are looking forward to having a couple of weeks off so that we can prepare for the next event."
The Men's Golf teams returns to competition on October 10 – 11 at the Motor City Invitational in Dearborn, Michigan.
