The Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis team opened the 2021-22 campaign at the Davenport Invitational Sept. 10-11. The invitational was an open draw between GVSU, Davenport and Ferris State.
 
Ignasi Garros and Ignacio Morera-Lucas led the Lakers on the singles side each posting a 3-0 record over the weekend. Josep Canyadell and Freddy Cossio each went 2-1. On the doubles side, Ignasi Garros and Ryan Rhoades, Freddy Cossio and Tomas Oliveira both posted 2-1 records.
 
On the women's team, Amanda Herdoiza and Estefania Hernandez each went undefeated with a 3-0 record on the weekend. Taylor Barrett, Vasileia Griva and Sophia Hanover also went undefeated with a 2-0 record. On the doubles side, Sophia Hanover and Marija Leko went 2-0 while Amanda Herdoiza and Olivia Huang posted a 2-1 record.
 
The women's team is back in action Saturday, September 18 for the Women's ITA hosted at Indianapolis. The men's team will host the Men's ITA Friday, September 24.
